Day 11: Amboise and Cheverny Sun Jul 17, 2016

We left Tours for an out and back tour to Amboise and Cheverny. Overlooking the Loire Valley, the World Heritage-listed Royal Château of Amboise in the town of Amboise offered a unique look into French history. With our guide we walked through the Chateau, strolled around the gardens and visited the Saint Hubert Chapel that houses the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci. After the Chateau we made a quick trip to Leonardo's house. We then continued to Cheverny and visited the Château de Cheverny, a delightful and intriguing castle built during the 17th century. We were welcomed with a traditional French horn fanfare, a glass of champagne, and petit fours before embarking on a private tour of the castle.
