Day 23: Glacier Bay — Ketchikan Thu Jul 10, 2014

Ketchikan clutches the shores of the Tongass Narrows, with many shops and houses built right out over the water. Its stairways are weathered and the vibe is cheerful in the town that calls itself the Salmon Capital of the World. We chose not to have an excursion today. Instead we climbed one of the steep roads to reach a lookout above the town. From the lookout we travelled down one of the steep staircase streets to Creek Street for a look around this unique and old-time shopping strip. However, what is on sale today is nothing like what was on sale 100 years ago.

Dawn heading into Ketchikan Ketchikan Some stairways are streets Looking out to the harbour Float plane about to land Mal and Debbie above the harbour Ketchikan fishing boats
