Canada & Alaska - 2014

Day 9: Banff — Lake Louise Thu Jun 26, 2014

Before we left Banff we enjoyed the chance to meet a Mountie (Pat the retired Mountie) to hear tales of the intrepid Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Pat spoke about the history of the Mountie uniform which was both informative and entertaining. Later, we boarded the Banff Gondola and ascended to the top of Sulphur Mountain, with its awe-striking, sweeping, panoramic views out over six mountain ranges.

From there we travelled to Moraine Lake, one of the iconic blue lakes in the Rockies. We then moved on to Lake Louise and the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise which overlooks the Victoria Glacier. In the evening we travelled by horse-drawn carriage to a Rocky Mountain Muster Dinner and Dance, held in a unique Canadian barn. The band was great.
